2007 Salt Lake Slam - Tour of America

> > > > For some of our wrestlers, they traveled south to Utah, capping the year off at the Tour of America - Salt Lake Slam. This first year tournament drew quite a few wrestlers from many of our western states providing large competetive brackets. All the boys wrestling well and all having at least one if not many tough matches.

2007 Gladiator & Middle School State Championships

12/14-15/07

> > > > Kuna Wrestling laced it up & brought it on this past weekend, competing in the first Middle School State Championships and the 2007 Gladiator tournament. It's now official, KUNA WRESTLING is the first ever Middle School Idaho State Champs!!! Congratulations!!! After a long evening of wrestling Friday for the state title, Kuna went on Saturday taking honors in the 15 year age group placing 3rd & the 12 years and under age group placing 5th. Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and more brought kids to compete at this years Gladiator Tournament. Way to go Kuna Wrestling!!!

2007 Idaho State Kids Folkstyle Championships

12/01/07

> > > > Four of the boys headed north to Post Falls to take part in the Idaho kids State Folkstyle Championships. All four coming home with medals! Braydon Ball, Jacob Barton, Levi Perry, & Zack Velez all brought home top four placing's. Good job boys!!! The rest of the gang had their Middle School district tournament that same weekend in Mt. Home. BTW, Kuna Middle School set a new point record, winning the District Title with 514.5 points. Way to go Kuna Wrestling!!!

2007 National Kids Freestyle/Greco Championships

07/5-8/07

> > > > Jordan Nolan traveled to Green Bay Wisconsin to compete in the USA National tournament this July. After first place finishes in both Greco and Freestyle at the Western Regionals, Jordan competed against the nations best with an outstanding finish of 3rd place in both styles. Way to go Jordan!!!

> > > > Goals were set high this year. 16 members traveled to Klamath Falls, Oregon, and all the wrestlers competed with a serious intensity and the desire to be champions. Everyone wrestled extremely well and represented the State of Idaho in first class fashion!

> > > > The Kuna Wrestling Club brought home an Outstanding 16 Regional National Medals!!! Nine of our kids placed either in Greco or Freestyle with seven taking honors in both styles. Our shinning star of the tournament, Jordan Nolan, dominated his weight class in both styles and was both Greco and Freestyle Regional National Champion!!! Way to go Jordan!

> > > > The year has finished up in the State of Idaho with many of the Kuna Wrestlers fighting and scrapping their way to the top. If the State meet kept team or club scores, there would be no question as to which club ended up with GOLD!!!

> > > > Not only did Kuna have five champions in both Greco and Freestyle, two wrestlers became Idaho State Triple Crown Winners!!! Competing in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco, Jordan Nolan & Michael Cook champion all three and bring Triple Crown Awards to the Kuna Wrestling Club!!! And for the third consecutive year, Jacoby Peterson takes another freestyle state title!!! Congratulations to all the kids for another great year!!!

2007 Reno Worlds

04/06-07/07

> > > > Small town Kuna traveled to the Biggest Little City in the World this past weekend wrestling in the Reno Worlds. Wrestling in one of the biggest and toughest tournaments in the world, Kuna Wrestling made its debut at Reno and did so with solid wrestling from all 21 wrestlers. Kuna had four outstanding performances and podium place winners and a number of wrestlers one match from finishing in the top six.

> > > > The only wrestler from the state of Idaho to make it into the finals at Reno was our own Levi Perry. Wrestling and pounding his way to the finals, Levi was a true gladiator. In a gut wrenching, hard fought battle in the finals at 64 lbs. 8 and under division, Levi took the **2nd** place award and had a terrific tournament.

> > > > Another great performance came from Blake Perry this weekend. Blake just about knocked off the number one seed in the semifinals who had a long list of championships to his credit. Blake finished **4th** on the podium at 70 lbs. 12 and under division.

> > > > Kurtis Loftis competing at 73 lbs. 10 and under division, battled and wrestled some very tough competitors. In his final match needing two points for victory, Kurtis fights his way for the win with only seconds on the clock, and finishes with the win! Kurtis finished **5th** on the podium.

> > > > Wrestling at 85 lbs. in the 10 and under division was Tristian Jarboe. Battling back from behind in many of his matches, Tristian kept his composure wrestling all three rounds wearing down competitors for victories. Dominating his final match and finishing with a fall, Tristian takes a **3rd** place podium finish.

2007 Nampa Bulldog Tourni

03/23-24/07

> > > > Three Kuna Wrestlers take three "Outstanding Wresters Awards" and another takes the fastest pin award!!! Kreede Peterson, Levi Perry, and Christian Brandon take home the Outstanding Wrestler Awards in Bantam, Midget, and the Novice divisions along with Jordan Nolan recording the fastest pin this weekend in Nampa. The Kuna Club takes another team trophy of second place this weekend behind home team Nampa in a very close finish, (one point difference) with homedale finishing third.

Capital City, Snake River, and the Bend, OR Tournaments

03/16-17/2007

> > > > This past weekend, was a busy one for the Kuna Club. Kuna Wrestling took to the mat in three different venues, but with very similar results. The club traveled to Blackfoot - Idaho, Bend - Oregon, and Capital High School here in Boise. With just a handful of kids at the Capital tournament, Kuna brought home a 3rd place team trophy in a tight race for the top 3 teams.

At the Snake River tournament in Blackfoot, Kuna had 8 wrestlers competing in all three styles, (folkstyle, freestyle, Greco). When all was said and done, Kuna had 14 first place medals, 3 seconds & 4 third placers. And to cap this tournament off, Brady Barosso and Jacoby Peterson brought home Outstanding Wrestler Awards!!!

And the last group traveled to Bend, Oregon for some outstanding folkstyle competition. We had 3 Champions, 3 second placers, and 1 third place finish at the Western Collegiate Folkstyle Championships. Great wrestling Kuna!!!

Getting ready for Nampa, and maybe a few going down to Utah for the Mountain Top Classic next weekend.

2007 Idaho Express Tournament

03/09-10/2007

> > > > With the largest tournament in the State, Kuna Wrestling has another fantastic showing. Great wrestling, large brackets, and a couple of outstanding wrestling awards make for a good weekend of battle. Its feels good when the stands are empty, its late, gym is being cleaned, and two mats are finishing up with the last of the competitors. Especially when most of those matches have Black & Gold still competing and fighting for those top finishes!!!

Congratulations to Christian and Levi for an outstanding tournament and receiving the Most Outstanding Wrestler Awards. They both had a great tournament in freestyle & greco!!! Congrats' to Jordan Nolan for fastest pin award!!!

2007 Homedale Wrestling Tournament

> > > > The WIWA 2007 season officially started this past weekend in Homedale, Idaho with a large turnout and everyone anxious for the coming season. The Kuna Wrestling Club came prepared and started the 2007 year just as they finished the 2006 season, another first place team trophy. Many of our experienced wrestlers dominated their weight classes and are looking great for the coming season. Even a larger group of first, second, and third year wrestlers in the club are making great improvements and made their mark this past weekend. Nampa, Homedale, and Melba finished out the top four teams.

Kuna Wrestling is eyeing the Express Tournament and preparing for battle!!!

Going for Gold each weekend!!! Way to go Kuna Wrestling!!!

2007 Winnemucca High Desert Classic

> > > > 15 of the gang traveled to Winnemucca and placed second in the team competition. If team scoring wasn't based on total number of participants in each club, the Kuna Wrestling Club may have scored an out of state team title. Next year, we'll bring all 120 Club members and see what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2007 Utah Folkstyle Regional Nationals

> > > > With more than 11 states represented, the 7th annual 2007 Folkstyle Regional Nationals had quite a show. Over 775 competitors traveled some distance to gain points in USA Wrestling's Ultimate Challenge Series. Three of the Kuna Wrestlers traveled south to Richfield, Utah and had a terrific tournament.

2007 Oregon Classic

> > > > Competing in one of the largest tournaments in the west, Kuna Wrestling traveled to Redmond, Oregon January 13-14. Nine of our kids qualified for the 2007 Classic from the Eastern Oregon Qualifier. Everyone had a tremendous tournament with full weight classes and tough competition.
